  • Built, Upholstered, and Painted with fellow prop artisan Ariel Lacey

  • Hand-carved base and legs out of poplar

  • S-curve is 1/2" ply with a veneer on the exterior sides, sitting on ribs attached to the base

  • Most dowels taken from an old chair, two lathed to match

  • Top is buttoned and pulled through the ply, then the string is hidden underneath in a small canal.

  • Has a diameter of 5'

  • Custom carved poplar legs

  • Base made out of 3/4" ply and bendy ply

  • Applique self-contained so that it could roll on and off stage without damage

  • Center and side wedges removable for storage

  • Rolls out on casters, fake wheels on sides

  • Every feather piece is 1/8" styrofoam layered over top of each other

  • Base of front made from bendy ply

  • Wings flare out once they're on stage, kept up via bungee cords on back.

  • Rolled out on a knife in stage.

  • Given two different plans on the build, opted for a mixture of both

  • Wheels are bicycle wheels with axles run through large angle irons attached to the base.

  • Sides and front are a double-layer bendy ply.

  • Handles are PVC made to look like bamboo

  • Hanger for decoration made from real bamboo, tied with twine and fastened with a center screw.

  • My part of the project was the custom carved poplar legs

  • Used a Lancelot grinder attachment, sanding flap wheels, and a dremel. 

  • Eva Foam was applied for other details

  • The wood/foam sections were then covered in gold leaf after painting

  • I also upholstered the back pillow rest.

  • Originally built for several people dancing on it.

  • Originally the feet were on sliders, not casters

  • Top is 3/4" ply, topped in masonite, wrapped around the edges with bendy ply and masonite. 

  • All sides covered in masonite.

Bamboo   Planter

  • Created out of different sized PVC to stand in for bamboo. 

  • Side panels are made of wood plank placemats cut to size and glued onto luan sheets that are inserted in the top and bottom pieces of PVC.

  • Smaller arches filled with sand and bent with a heat gun.

  • On a rolling caster base.

  • Twine hot glued around PVC to make "knuckles" in bamboo.

  • Made out of pine, birch plywood, and dowels. 

  • Back pieces inserted into sides.

  • Can be broken down in pieces: base, legs, and top stretcher, for touring. Bolted together.

  • Legs and back supports lathed out of poplar and doweled together where needed

  • Rest of piece made of pine, seats of pine planks

  • Two vanities with identical fronts. 

  • One has opening mini bar doors, one has pull out drawers to be a desk.  

  • Made out of plywood and pine with an MDF top
